Peter Dorne is a full service architect nationally recognized for his work in new design, historic preservation, renovation and adaptive re-use of existing structures. Peter Dorne holds a Masters degree in Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and is licensed in the states of New Jersey, New York, California, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia, Montana, Florida, Texas, and the District of Columbia. Through his extensive education and experience, Dorne blends design excellence with construction management to achieve the goals of each client.
Peter Dorne Architect is based in Morristown and Bay Head, New Jersey. Dorne's appreciation of the design elements in the stately mansions and palaces of England and France, the gracious homes of Colonial and Victorian America and the austere lines of Early American Homesteads are embodied throughout his designs. Dorne excels in developing creative architectural solutions utilizing advanced technology and energy efficient building systems and materials. Dorne is most well known for his concentration in residential architecture and construction management. Each home is unique, exhibiting the hallmarks of Dorne designs - distinctive chimney's, portico's, cupola's, beautiful window's, and the extensive use of handsome millwork. By marrying his architectural skills and earlier hands-on experience as a builder/contractor, Dorne is able to offer complete construction management to ensure the construction runs true to the intended design.
Recent Dorne designs include the award-winning townhouses, Georgetown, located in the historic district of Morristown, New Jersey, and the Ryland Inn, an upscale restaurant in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Dorne also specializes in the renovation and adaptive re-use of existing structures. Dorne served as Chairman of the Historic Preservation Committee of Morris Township. In this role Dorne acted as director of research with a special interest in maintaining structures. An example of this interest is illustrated in the Dorne design and renovation of the Arcola and Panther Valley Country Clubs, as well as a historic barn in Florham Park, New Jersey, now known as The Park Avenue Club.
Peter Dorne Architect strives to satisfy the needs and achieve the goals for each client. Peter Dorne is dedicated to working closely with each client, through each step of the building process. Starting with feasibility studies and moving through design and approvals to construction and completion, each project includes continuous attention and direction. The old-fashion value of personal service is a key aspect in every phase of the project.
Peter Dorne Architect is proud of our reputation for high quality projects delivered on-time and on-budget. The key to this success is client involvement. Our firm knows that every project has unique requirements and we are dedicated to maintaining the quality, character, and craftsmanship of classic design whether recycling fine old materials or using new ones. We believe that environmentally responsible design is essential.
We use the most current Architectural Drafting programs. This allows us to communicate electronically with other design professionals (i.e. engineers, landscape architects, etc.) and immediately adjust for scope changes or on-going revisions quickly and accurately. We also use computer programs to monitor the building efficiency of our design. Our marriage with Celia DeHuff, principal at Hedges Landscape Design, enables us to surround our projects with award winning landscapes.
